This mask represents the “Queen of Women”, a maternal character who was the wife the the legendary warrior Asufu.  Finely carved in gentle forms, the mask’s narrow eye slits, straight nose and protruding slightly open mouth convey a harmonious impression.  Tattooed beauty scarification is found in front of the ears.  A figure holds tightly to the back of the  head and gazes out.
